The main task for the Administration team is to keep the business of the church running to support all other areas of ministry. Toward that end the Administration team performed the following tasks:
" Maintained and administered the budget and financial
responsibilities of HEM
" Coordinated church-wide areas of service (e.g. setting up chairs
and table, providing lunch for the church, etc.)
" Through the HEM secretary (Jong Yon Kim), performed a multitude
of activities including:
o Preparation of the Sunday Bulletin
o Administration of the HEM bulletin board
o Preparation of worship statistics
o Preparation of worship name tags / greeting information
o Coordination of the HEM calendar of activities
" Coordinated the preparation of this annual report
Our belief is that even tasks that seam mundane can be
a form of worship and the service that we provide for the church at
large will directly and indirectly help it's growth. To that end, our
goal is to serve the church and our Lord with gladness and enthusiasm.
Our role model is Stephen, who along with six others were charged with
"waiting on tables" (Acts 6:3), but through his service he
became a "man full of God's grace and power, did great wonders
and miraculous signs among the people" (Acts 6:8).

The Preaching / Teaching team met early in the year and
decided to focus our efforts on three aspects of learning:
" Bible Study - straight application and study of the Word.
" Application to daily life - topical studies to apply biblical
principles to daily life
" Development of skills - teaching of essential skills needed to
grow in faith
In the area of Bible Study, we planned and evaluated curriculum for Sunday school. Alas, because of other urgent needs, we were not able to progress beyond the planning stage for 2006, but plan to use the information gathered in 2006 for 2007.
Finally with respect to the Development of skills, much
of the focus was placed on the three retreats over the course of the
year: the all church Family Retreat (May), the women's retreat (Aug)
and the men's retreat (Oct). Topics were picked to emphasize experiential
learning and encourage relationship building.

For 2006, the Healing/Care team started a program with the welcoming team called "shepherding" to provide an environment where first-time attendees and newcomers could meet regular HEM people and build relationships. The motto of the welcoming team was "No newcomer left alone." There have unfortunately been instances where a first-time attendee or a relative newcomer would join the fellowship/snack time after service but would not interact with HEM people all that much. The shepherding program was started so that the welcome team representative for each Sunday would be a "shepherd" to any newcomer and would act as a host, introducing the newcomer to other HEM people. The welcome team members that participated in this were: Sam and Primrose Yoon, Angella Kwon, Spencer Nicholson, Han Lee, Steve and Janice Zink, K.C. Kye, Rick Moy, and Nat Pae. Beginning in Oct. 2006 the Hanmee College-Age Ministry (HCAM) merged with Hanmee English Ministry. Since there were several (about 8) students at UIC who attended service at Hanmee, HEM continued the van pick-up and drop-off service that was part of the HCAM. The van drivers were the 2006 deacons as well as Martin Lim, Spencer Nicholson, and Sam Yoon.
Other events in 2006: EM preparing lunch for the whole
church, Taekwondo fundraising event (March), cleanup and repair of Hanmee
House (Nehemiah Project, June).

Colossians 1:28 "Him we proclaim, warning and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ." (ESV)
Much like the rest of the English Ministry, the year was a transition period for the Missions and Outreach Ministry. I was appointed as overseeing deacon for the ministry, to assist Chris Patterson with the missions segment of the ministry, and to lead the local outreach segment of the ministry. Toward the middle of the year, I assumed leadership for both segments. My vision at the beginning of the year was to continue supporting PADS, lead an evangelism study focusing on apologetics, and to identify new local outreach support prospects.
Ministry highlights include:
" Coordinated the Spring Taekwondo fundraiser at Addison Trail
High School.
" Provided assistance in the form of work and funds to DuPage PADS
(Public Action to Deliver Shelter, www.dupagepads.org) and the Northern
Illinois Food Bank (www.northernilfoodbank.org).
" Hosted the singing group Testimony a Cappella from Stanford University
(www.stanford.edu/group/tmony/).
" Supported 10% of the missions requirements for Kyeon Heo (Mexico),
Linda Lee (Kenya/Ethiopia), and Amy Lee (Kenya/Ethiopia).
" Presented financial gifts to Intervarsity Christian Fellowship
(c/o Kathy Khang, Northwestern University, www.intervarsity.org), World
Vision (Darfur Crisis in Sudan, www.worldvision.org), and (Family Care
Foundation/Helping Hands Korea, www.familycare.org/network/korea.htm,
Project 98-P01).
" Engaged with Compassion International (www.compassion.org). As
a result of this engagement, all the children presented by Compassion
were sponsored, 15 in all.
" Sponsored the Angel Tree Ministry (www.angeltree.org). In all,
22 children of the 23 presented received two gifts each.
" Identified the need for English Ministry to draft policies governing
application of those willing to partner for long-term and short-term
missions. By the end of 2006, those policies were drafted and will be
ratified in early 2007. A Missions and Outreach Team will be formed
to draft the policies and propose them to the Leadership for approval.
" Improved communications between current ministry partners and
prospective ministry partners.

The prayer team vision / mission has been to :
1. To help develop a consistent personal prayer life
2. To encourage the development of prayer partnerships
3. To encourage participation in corporate prayer meetings
To these ends, I believe God has helped us in some of these areas. A few years ago, the prayer team conducted a survey to get a gauge on prayer activities in our church. The results of this survey were instructive and enlightening. Though many in our congregation believed in the importance of prayer, the majority did not regularly practice prayer in their lives. In 2006, We did see a movement by some in our congregation toward a more consistent prayer life.
The highlights included:
1. The movement of the weekly prayer meeting from Friday evening to
Tuesday evening.
2. 40 days of early morning prayer (this occurred at the end of 2005)
to pray for leadership, the pastor search process, and Pastor Bob and
his family.
3. The beginning of the leadership prayer time on Saturday am.
4. The beginning of the Woman's prayer meeting every other Tuesday and
by default a men's prayer time.
We believe God is working on the members of our congregation to have
a more consistent devotional life that will eventually be reflected
in greater participation in the prayer meetings and also in the Bible
studies as well as worship.
In the coming years, we hop and pray that we will be
able to provide resources to help people in their personal times of
prayer. Further, we hope to facilitate the commitment of small prayer
groups to form where people will commit to communicating and praying
regularly for some one. Finally, we hope that the prayer gatherings
would grow and other prayer groups would form.

" Recruited additional people to help with the control
room (computer, LCD projector and video camera operators during worship)
and soundboard during Sunday services in 2006. At the end of 2006, had
six (6) people on soundboard and eight (8) people in the control room.
" The Bi-Annual All Hanmee Church retreat took place this year
during Memorial Day weekend at Beloit College and EM members Phil Tan
and Peter Jang served on the joint praise team at the retreat with Phil
leading the team. During the dedicated EM sessions, the EM praise team
lead the worship times. The EM, led by John Park, took the lead in coordinating
the logistical part of the retreat with transportation and setup of
equipment for the various ministries.
" Scheduled interim speakers for Sunday sermons during the EM pastoral
search process in 2006. Started out with booking various speakers through
June 2006 such as Pastor Don Cole and Pastor David Rhim from Moody Bible
Institute, John Pinotes (lay preacher and painter by trade), Eric Kim
(Trinity Seminary student) and some of our ministry partners spoke as
well (Kathy Khang - AAIV @ Northwestern University, John Warden AACCM,
Tim and Sarah Stone - WEC Missionaries to Turkey). From June - August
2006, Hanmee EM utilized a rotation of three (3) speakers to have more
consistency and familiarity for the congregation from the pulpit. The
speakers were Pastor David Choi, Doug Anderson and Pastor Soong-Chan
Rah. This rotation ended when Pastor Raymond Song began as EM pastor
in September 2006.
" EM coordinated the first Hanmee Christmas Candlelight Service
on Friday, Dec. 22 for the entire church. Primarily EM members served
in various roles of the service with praise, scripture readings, special
music by the EM Choir and Pastor Raymond Song leading the congregation
in prayer.
